Favorite New Stamp Sets for Bible Journaling

Choosing my favorite new stamp sets for Bible journaling was not hard.  In fact, this year I looked at my brand new Stampin’ Up! catalog with totally different eyes.  Looking through the new catalog is such an exciting experience for me.  I love to ohhh and ahhh over all the fun new stuff.  I make lists of what I absolutely have to have immediately, and what I really want but can’t afford just yet.  I look at all the new projects others are posting and my lists just get longer.

This year, even the first time glancing through, I was noticing the new stamp sets that I wanted to use in my journal Bible.  I have ordered a few of them and they are arriving at my house this week, so you should be able to see how I have used them personally VERY soon.  In the meantime, I will share the ones that stood out to me.

Labeler  Alphabet

I have shopped for letter stickers like these and not had much success.  You can imagine how excited I was to see this item in the new catalog.  I can stamp these in any color I want.  I can spell words with LOTS of vowels and not worry about running out.  And, because it is a photopolymer stamp set, I will be able to line my letters up easily to spell any words I choose.  This was a MUST HAVE for my Bible Journal!  As a bonus, I can create totally personalized and unique cards or gift tags with this alphabet too.  Its definitely a WIN WIN situation.

Wherever You Go

This bridge just screamed BIBLE JOURNAL to me the first time I saw it.  Something about not being able to see the beginning or the end seems almost poetic to me.  The fact that it is paired with a bird in flight, a beautiful compass and that great sunrise/sunset stamp, just adds to the value I see in using this to illustrate my faith.  {LOVE}

Best Birds Bundle

I really love bird images and these are some sweet little birds.  The fact that I can easily cut them out with a coordinating framelit makes them almost irresistible!  This set will definitely be used in my Bible and for many beautiful cards too!

Falling Flowers Bundle

I mainly am drawn to this set because of that awesome flourish image.  I can see that working well on several different types of Bible pages.  Of course, flowers are always good too and can be used for lots of different things.  I like the variety of flowers and the variety of flower sizes in this set.  Once again, having a coordinating framelit to cut these out easily is definitely a selling point!

Do you have any new favorite stamp sets for Bible journaling?  If so, I would love to hear which ones you will be using.

If you are interested in Bible Journaling, but have no idea where to start, you can join us at a gathering on Tuesday, June 28.  We’ll be getting together to work on our pages and maybe try out some new tools or techniques.  There is no cost to participate and you do NOT have to have a journal Bible to attend.  We have some sample pages you can practice on and plenty of supplies to try out.  If you’d like more information, please leave a comment below!

All Occasion Card Set

Coordinating an all occasion card set is fun to do and it also makes a practical gift. You can coordinate the cards by using the same stamp set, the same technique, the same color combination, etc.  For our set today I used a single stamp set and also the same color combination for all three cards.

With the Paper Pumpkin kit this month, Stampin’ Up! also included a “thank you” stamp set for subscribers.  It is called the All About Everything stamp set and it is cute, cute, cute!  It has a floral theme and lots of great sentiments.  I had fun playing with this new stamp set this weekend and creating my all occasion card set.  I made three different cards and there are still plenty of stamps in this set that have not even been inked yet.  I will have to play some more with them this week. 😉

All Occasion Card Set

All Occasion Card Set All Occasion Card Set All Occasion Card Set

Color coordination is one of the easiest ways to create a coordinating all occasion card set.  For this set of cards I used bermuda bay, coastal cabana (retired in-color), pool party, daffodil delight, basic gray and whisper white.  All are Stampin’ Up! colors.  The “smile” sentiment on the second card was just a handwritten touch I added and is not one of the stamps from the set.   I was just looking for a way to add a touch of yellow to the card after I had created it, and I’m pleased with how it turned out.

This would be a cute set of cards to put in a paper tote like the ones we are creating in our All About Mom class next month.  Check out the details here.

Berry Basket Without The Die

When I heard you could make a berry basket without the die I knew I had to give it a try.  I love these cute little baskets, but the Big Shot Die to create them is still on my wishlist.  Creating this basket from scratch is really pretty simple and I love how it turned out.   All you need is some 8 1/2 X 11″ cardstock, a paper trimmer with a scoring blade, a stapler and some strong adhesive—I used Stampin’ Up’s Fast Fuse.  I also embellished mine with stamps and ink.  Here’s how it turned out…

Berry Basket without the Die

Isn’t that adorable?  I used flowers from the Botanicals For You stamp set to embellish it before I assembled the basket.  This little basket is perfect for some Easter treats, but I have lots of ideas running through my head for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts and lots of other holiday fun.  I am excited to make another one with a handle on it.

I was in a department store the other day and saw the cutest Easter grass in a package.  It was made of paper….not the plastic stuff, but they wanted $9.99 for a small bag!  I decided to create my own and save the money.  I used Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz cardstock for the “grass” in my Easter basket.  Here’s another look…

Hershey Bar Valentine

A Hershey Bar Valentine is a great way to spread some love this Valentine’s day! These Valentine treats are easy to make, so if you need to do several it won’t take long. They are great to share with co-workers, classmates, teachers, friends, etc.

Hershey Bar Valentine!

One little note about working with chocolate – It is not recommended to attach anything directly to the wrapper using tape.  Some claim that this can affect the taste of the chocolate.  I have never had a problem with that, but thought I would pass the info on to you.  Using the technique shown in the video, it is easy to secure the paper wrapper without actually taping it to the chocolate bar.

Bonus Idea!

You can make mini versions of this using Hershey miniatures.  They look so cute wrapped in colorful Designer Series Paper!  Sit a bowl on your desk to share with clients or coworkers, or put them in little cellophane bags and pass them out to your kids’ teachers.  Chocolate is always a good gift, no matter the size!  The ONLY Hershey miniature I could find to illustrate this, happens to be a Kit Kat bar.  And since my Denver Broncos WON Super Bowl 50 last night, I decided to decorate it for Valentine’s day in Blue and Orange.

I love making little treats like this to share with others.  I’ll be sharing different Valentine ideas all week, so come back tomorrow and see what’s new.  I will tell you in advance that no animals were harmed in the making of tomorrow’s project! 🙂  If you liked this video please leave a comment and feel free to share the Hershey Bar Valentine video with your friends!

Share the Love

Share the love this week!  Make sure those closest to you know that you love them and how blessed you are by them.  Every day is a good day to share the love with your family and friends.

A few weeks ago we took down all our Christmas decorations and my husband teased about leaving the mistletoe up year round.  I made this card for him and assured him that mistletoe was NOT a requirement for a kiss. 😉

I used Stampin’ Up’s Friendly Wishes stamp set for this card.  Not only is this a versatile set, but it has fun little details in addition to the variety of text images.  I used the little heart stamp to create a sort of border image across the card.  The sentiment was stamped using two different colors of ink.  Both of these details allow me to use a basically plain card front without creating a plain looking card!  And, of course, any time you create and give away a handmade card, you are already sharing the love!

Our church family is sharing the love in a special way today also.  We are fasting and praying for our pastor!  Please join me in saying a prayer for our pastor and his family as he continues with his chemotherapy treatment.  Join us in praying for healing and for the Lord’s will to be accomplished in his life.   Thank you for sharing the love!

Banner Blessings

Banner Blessings is one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! stamp sets.  I love to include Scripture on my cards, and this set makes that easy to do and CUTE!  I also love that it is a photopolymer stamp set, so I can see exactly where I am stamping and if I have it straight.  Because the stamps in the set are all in the same format, you can put together a set of cards quickly, while using each of the different stamps.  Check out the stamps included in this set…

Banner Blessings Stamp Set

I used the Banner Blessings stamp set this week to make some cards for a friend.   She needs some thank you cards, so I included the “Thanks” and “Friend” sentiments on her card set.  I used different colors for each card, but coordinated the set by including 2 of the 4 colors on each card.  Other than the stamp set and cardstock, the only embellishing I did was to emboss with a retired embossing folder.  It added such a pretty and delicate look to this card set. 🙂

Since I created 4″ X 4″ cards for this set, I used my envelope punch board to make envelopes also.  I love the look of square cards, but custom envelopes can be tricky and time consuming…unless, of course you have the right tools.  I created the matching envelopes for this set in just a few minutes.

If you are looking for a versatile set of Scripture stamps, then the Banner Blessings set is definitely for you!  You can see from the cards pictured, that this set creates a beautifully simple card without using a lot of embellishments or fancy stamping techniques.  It will be a great addition to your craft collection.

I would love to hear what your favorite Stampin’ Up! stamp set is right now.  Share it in a comment below and tell us why you love it!

Woodland Embossing Folder

The woodland embossing folder is one of my most recent purchases from the Holiday Catalog.  I hadn’t even had a chance to play with it before I made the card featured in this post.  It was a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday evening.  We were having a wedding shower at church the next day and I was busy baking and gathering supplies for decorating.  I remembered that I did not have a card and my hubby said, “Surely you already have something that you can use.”  And he was right, I have lots of cards that were already made.  But there is something about creating a special card just for a special occasion or a special someone, that makes you not want to go to your stash, but create something new.  So I began thinking about something I could do pretty quick.

Since it was new, the woodland embossing folder came to my mind.  I had not made anything with it, but I had seen some cute cards that others had made, so I decided to give it a shot…

Woodland Embossing Folder

Woodland Embossing Folder

After embossing the Whisper White cardstock, I punched some hearts and adhered them to the card.  I used a black journaling pen to draw my strings and bows so they would look like they were hanging from the limbs.  (Love the bling from the red glimmer hearts!)

You can see a Halloween card made with the woodland embossing folder here.  I haven’t used it for a Christmas card yet, or Thanksgiving, but oh the possibilities!  I think my shower card would also work for Valentine’s day if we just change the sentiment.  We just about have every occasion covered with this one embossing folder.  What a bargain!

Don’t forget that TOMORROW is the final day to get 15% off stamp sets in the annual AND holiday catalogs.  I will be placing an order because there are still some holiday sets I want and I can’t resist a stampin’ sale!  Let me know if you want to take advantage of the sale too!
