I bought the Pretty Pumpkins Bundle, from the current Stampin’ Up mini catalog, just for the cute sentiment I used on this card. I love the pumpkins too (and all things fall), but when I saw that sentiment I knew that I wanted to create a bunch of fall cards for my friends this year.
If you watched my video from World Cardmaking Day, you saw that I made a very similar card. That original card used a different decorative mask. On the video, however, I showed you how to create this background. If you missed that, you should definitely go watch it now.
I love everything about this card—the sentiment, the colored pumpkins, the background paper—everything. Instead of stamping the entire sentiment on the front, I just stamped part of it and stamped the rest on the inside. I don’t have a Soft Succulent marker, so I used my ink pad and a Blender Pen to create the “…” Maybe I should have colored the pumpkin leaves this way also, but I used my Old Olive Blends and I think they look nice even if they aren’t the same color as my background paper. Here’s the inside of my card.
I will say that it took a little while to create that masked background on the card front. Each of those tiny dots had to be color lifted individually with the Qtip. Because of that, this is a one of a kind card! I might make another, but with a different mask or maybe some dsp. I have no regrets for this one though and I do encourage you to try out that color lifting technique. It isn’t difficult and the results are beautiful and unique.
