Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday. He truly is a kid at heart and still loves playing MarioKart and a variety of other kid-approved games. I decided to create a Mario card for him this year. It went along with one of his gifts and wasn’t too difficult to put together. It was certainly worth the effort. 🙂
Nearly all the details were created with oval dies. I used letter dies and a circle punch for the “M” on his hat. For his moustache, I used an oval die and then folded it in half to cut the details symmetrically. Then I unfolded it and ran it through my Stampin’ Emboss Machine with a woodgrain embossing folder. For the bill of his hat and his nose, I used coordinating ink to sponge around the edges to create some depth.
It turned out as cute as I had hoped it would. I don’t do punch art very often, but I am always amazed at the things you can create with basic shapes and a little creative thinking. Technically this isn’t punch art, because I used dies, but if you have something you want to try and create, you can google “punch art ______” and get some ideas for how to make it.
If you have Mario fans in your life, you should definitely give this card a shot. Of course this punch art would also be great for party decor or even for decor in a little boys room. (Hmmm, I think I have just inspired myself to make another project!)
If you have questions about my Mario card, or need some ideas for a different punch project, let me know. I am happy to help!
Thank you love of my life. The card was amazing. Not nearly as amazing as you are but amazing nonetheless.
