I have made a Paper Purse before, but never one cuter than this one! Like any job, with the proper tools it is SO easy to do. Stampin’ Up! introduced us to the All Dressed Up dies in the mini catalog this spring. It coordinates with the Dressed to Impress stamp set. My daughter is a Mary Kay beauty consultant, so the minute I saw this set I knew I had to buy it. There are wonderful sentiments in this set to go with the fun images. It is just too cute, and fortunately both are included in the new annual catalog.
I thought it would be fun to pair this cute die cut purse with the new In Color 6X6 Designer Series Paper. This paper pack includes a pattern that resembles fabric or denim. That’s exactly what I wanted for my project!
Paper Purse in Bumble Bee
It takes 2 of the paper panels from the dies to create this purse. I used dies to cut the pocket and closure strap also. Even those cute buttons are made of paper 🙂
There isn’t much room in that little paper pocket, but I was able to use a scrap of Whisper White cardstock for the tag and created a tiny tassel from bakers twine to attach to the tiny paper clip. My tag has an encouraging sentiment for the recipient.
The dies for this set include straps for the bag, but I chose to use this sweet gingham ribbon instead. Oh how I love that ribbon! It is such a nice touch for my little bag. I used a little magnet to help my clasp hold the bag closed.
This cute little purse is large enough to hold a gift card and chocolate! It would also be an excellent choice for wrapping up some jewelry. In my purse, I have folded the sides into the purse, but you can also create a bag that looks more like a tote by folding the sides outward instead of inward. If you choose to do that, you can use the bag as a clever holder for a set of 3X3 cards.
Product List
It’s always fun to play with new products when a catalog is launched, but I enjoyed mixing the old with the new for this project. I hope you will make a cute Paper Purse for yourself!
