Today I am sharing a Petal Promenade Birthday card. Although that paper is now retired, the construction of this card was too fun to not share! You might want to save this card for someone VERY special to you, because it takes a little time. But the results are totally worth it. I created this card for my sister. Her birthday is on July 4th, so I often create patriotic themed cards for her. This year I wanted to do something different.
Petal Promenade Birthday Card
Here is a different view, so you can kind of see just how complicated this card is…
On the far right panel you can see that I created a matching bookmark with her initial (“J”) and tucked it into a pocket. Pictures just don’t do it justice. It really is a stunning card. Because of the wonderful paper that I used, I really didn’t have to do much other embellishing. The little flag banner stretched across that front panel was easy to create with punches and some bakers twine. It was held together with Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue. The Lace embossing folder created a nice background and I just stamped a simple birthday sentiment. I also attached a piece of Whisper White cardstock to the back of the bookmark panel to write my personal greeting.
This card was not sent through the mail, but it did fold flat to fit in an envelope….
One of my very favorite things about Stampin’ Up, is the way the products are coordinated. It wasn’t difficult to choose colors for this card, I just used the ones that matched the Petal Promenade Paper. Stampin’ Up even lists those coordinating colors for you on every pack of Designer Series Paper and in their catalog, making it easy to buy exactly what you need.
This year I am trying to NOT be a paper hoarder. I am trying to use all the pretty paper that I buy. I hope this card inspires you to cut some pretty paper up and make something beautiful for someone you love. If you do, please share it with me so I can be inspired too!
