Do you know anyone that doesn’t ever struggle with storage solutions in their craft space? If you do, I need to talk with them! I am often trying out new tricks to keep my space clutter free.
Punches are great additions to your craft supplies. Here are four advantages to having punches:
- They are cheaper than buying dies
- They are fast to work with when you are creating multiples of a project
- They are great for stamping with kids
- They are ideal to take along when you have to stamp on the go
I have been using punches for a LONG time and probably have more than my fair share of them. For years I have stored my punches on towel rods on my wall. Here’s a photo of my current set up.
When my dear hubby hung towel rod #6 on the wall, I promised him that was the last one. At the time, I fully intended to get rid of punches to make room for new ones. A few have been sent on to new homes to be used by others, but they are just so versatile, it is hard to let go of them.
This year I decided to try a new punch storage solution. I really wanted to buy an expensive punch storage box. It held a LOT of punches in a relatively small space, but it was just too expensive. So, I did some creative thinking and decided to try a different box. I used a simple storage box from IKEA that I already had. It holds all my CURRENT punches. When I am working on a project, I don’t have to dig out the catalog to see which punches are still orderable.
Punch Storage Box
I have enjoyed this simple solution. I can always put the lid on the box to keep out the dust or to make it look tidier and there has been plenty of room for all my current punches. I still use the towel rods for storing retired punches and larger punches that might not fit neatly in the box.
I would love to hear your punch storage ideas. If you’re looking for an easy storage solution, don’t be afraid to think inside the box! 🙂
