The Rock & Roll technique is not new, but it has been a long time since we have shared it, so you might not have seen it before. The new Tropical Leaf Bundle from Stampin’ Up’s Online Exclusives is a great stamp set for this technique. First I will share the project we made, and then I will tell you how it is done.
I love the colors in this card and, as this happens to be St. Patrick’s Day, it is perfect for today. I used the Rock & Roll technique for the leaves on the bottom border of our card. First I stamped the smaller leaves along one edge of my white cardstock layer using Bermuda Bay ink. Then I cleaned my stamp. Next I used Shaded Spruce ink, but instead of tapping my stamp flat on the ink pad, I put one edge of the stamp on the pad and then rolled it around so the ink was only applied to the outside of the image, not the middle. Here’s what that looked like.
After putting the outer layer of ink on my leaves, I stamped the leaf veins using Shaded Spruce ink again. I love the look of these leaves using the Rock & Roll Technique! It created the perfect layered look for the bottom of my card. I stamped the larger leaf with Bermuda Bay ink and then I sponged some of the Shaded Spruce ink on the stamp, but didn’t cover it completely, and stamped that over the Bermuda Bay leaf. I stamped the large leaf veins with Shaded Spruce ink and then punched them out with the coordinating Tropical Leaf Punch. After applying these larger leaves to the card, I decided they needed a little sparkle, so I used Wink of Stella on them. Here’s a closer look at that sparkle.
One of my favorite things about the Tropical Leaf stamp set is the fun font and the sentiments. They make this set useful for a variety of cards.
I hope you’ll try out the Rock & Roll technique and share a pic with me of what you create. I am always amazed by everyone’s creativity!
