Happy National Coloring Book Day!
Today is not only National Coloring Book Day, it is also my niece’s birthday. What a great opportunity to create a fun card/gift and share it with you! I don’t know if you have gotten into the adult coloring craze or not. Personally, I am a coloring fan from way back when. I didn’t need adult coloring books to appreciate the stress relieving benefits of coloring. In fact, I got this sweet gift from one of my besties about a year before the more mature books made the scene—and I LOVED it!
I decided I would stamp a coloring book/birthday card to celebrate today. The cover uses the Marquee Messages stamp set. It’s perfect because there’s lots of opportunity to color it, just what I was looking for. I used a metal key ring to attach all the cards together and fancied it up with a bit of ribbon.
My Coloring Book Card
The images on the inside are created from a retired Sale-A-Bration stamp set, but you can use whatever you have in your stamp stash. Just look for stamp images that are begging to be colored. They can be simple, like these, or more detailed if you’re celebrating with a more mature colorer. 🙂 If you end up using stamps with finer details, you might want to trade the crayons for colored pencils or even some nice fine tipped markers.
I hope you know a coloring book fan that has a birthday coming up so you can make one of your own! Of course, you don’t have to wait for a birthday. You can always make this for a thank you card or to simply say hello. School is about to start and kids are going to have new boxes of crayons and colored pencils to use. Maybe you have kids or grandkids that you could surprise by making some coloring book lunch box notes. There are so many possibilities!
