Punch Art Mushrooms might seem like a random thing to be making, but I was at the park with my family the other day and I saw this…

It was so cute sitting there in the grass that I just had to grab a picture of it.  When I showed the pic to my son, he suggested I use it as inspiration to make a card.  That’s one of the great things about having an artist in the family.  He is constantly challenging me and encouraging me to create.  It’s a great lesson though.  We spend so much time searching Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration for our cards and all we really have to do is look around us.  This little mushroom could have easily been overlooked, or just admired by me and then forgotten. I’m glad I took the time to photograph it and then create something fun from it.

First, I do realize that my punch art mushrooms are obviously more colorful than the original, but that’s okay, right?  They are made mostly of various circle punches.  The stem for the smaller one is the tree from the Tree Builder Punch (138295).  The stem for the larger one is the retired Modern Label punch, but it could easily be hand cut.

Since I created a square card I used my Envelope Punch Board to create an envelope for it.  Those stamped mushrooms are from the Foxy Friends Stamp Set (142326).  Don’t they do a good job of coordinating the envelope with it’s card?

So here’s your challenge for the day.  Look around you today and find something that you want to recreate in a card.  It can be an object, like my mushrooms, but it could also be a color combination or a pattern, or anything.  Let your imagination run wild!  We would love to see what you come up with, so please share your cards with us. 🙂
