Create Your Own Backgrounds

It’s easy to create your own backgrounds using the tiny flowers from the Enduring Beauty Stamp set. We are big believers in using what you have to create what you need, so for our cards today we used stamps and ink to create some background paper for our cards. By doing this, you can create pretty background paper in ANY color you want. We used flowers, but repeatedly stamping ANY stamp can have the same effect. Experiment with larger stamps as well as small ones. Use words instead of images. You will likely never run out of possibilities using what you already own!

For our first card, we stamped those tiny flowers all over our card layer. We used Pretty Peacock and Coastal Cabana to create this sample. The little flower stamp is a 2 stamp process. First you stamp the outline in a darker color and then you stamp the inside of the flowers in a lighter color. The Enduring Beauty stamp set is a photopolymer set, meaning that the stamps are clear. That makes aligning these stamps easy.

For our second card, we used a piece of copy paper to cover half of our cardstock layer and stamped the background images only on one side. It’s easy to use a piece of ribbon or a cardstock strip to cover the ‘seam’ in the center of the layer. This gives the illusion that you have used two different papers, instead of the single piece of white cardstock that it actually is. You can play around with this technique. Instead of dividing it in half, stamp a smaller strip, or try stamping strips on both sides of the paper leaving only the center strip white. There are simply tons of possibilities for this technique.
