February is coming fast and that means Valentine’s Day will be here soon. Now I don’t really need a reason to craft, but this is as good as any other. The problem is, I don’t have children in grade school who need a bunch of cute Valentines or treats. I do have a sweetie, and I will make a special card for him, but how do I stop at just one? What do I do with all the other cute Valentine things I am creating? Here are some ideas to get you thinking outside of the box for Valentine’s Day.
First, this holiday is about love. Our society associates that with romance, but we don’t have to go that route. Since we ALL need love, this makes the door wide open for anyone to receive one of our handcrafted goodies. Carry some small treats with you and pass them out as you run errands, sit in waiting rooms, go out to eat—everywhere! Want a sample? Here you go…
There are all sorts of little goodies like this that you can create and pass around, but what do you do with the fun cards you make? I have ideas for that also. Here are some groups of people that could probably use some extra love…
- Widows
- Single moms
- Nursing Home residents
- Teachers
Of course, you can always share your cards with kids too. Children love to get mail! And don’t forget your friends and family…we need to take EVERY opportunity we have to let them know that we love them!
So, no Valentine? No problem! Even if you don’t have a sweetie, don’t think that Valentine’s Day isn’t for you. Focus on loving others and showing them that they are loved. Work on making as many people as possible feel loved this year! What a great use of your time and your talents this will be.
