This Spiral Dye birthday card was so much fun to make! I had to make a dozen of them, because I was participating in a card swap with my fellow demonstrators. It was interesting to see how each would turn out because they were all a little different.
Spiral Dye Birthday
I started out with a piece of Basic White cardstock and added 4 ink colors: Pacific Point, Highland Heather, Mango Melody and Magenta Madness. The colors were blended some and added randomly on the cardstock. Then I rubbed my embossing buddy over the entire card front and stamped the Spiral Dye stamp using Versamark ink. I love using my Stamparatus for stamping these large background images. Very easy! I added clear embossing powder and used the heat tool to set it. Next, I used a brayer to roll Memento Black ink over the entire thing. Just keep rolling or blending that dark ink on until you have it as dark as you want. Finally, I used a paper towel to remove the ink from my stamped image so those vibrant colors would really pop.
The tag was created using the same process. I cut the tag with a Tailor Made Tags die. Notice that I die cut it before adding the black ink. This allowed my stitched dots on the border to show off all those fun colors. When I added the black ink before die cutting, I lost that fun detail.
That might sound like a lot of work, but it was worth the effort. I won Best In Show!
I always enjoy trying out new ways to use my supplies. This Spiral Dye birthday was a fun card to make and I hope you try this technique. If you have questions, contact me. I will be glad to help!
