Here’s a workshop recap from last week. I had a great time gathering with about a dozen other stampers to create. We enjoyed great food (thanks Loretta!) and wonderful fellowship. We also worked on some cute projects, which I will show you in just a second. But first, the prizes! Instead of doing a traditional door prize I chose to give something to everyone. In keeping with my effort to continually reduce my card stash, I gave away almost all of my Valentine cards. I say almost all because I kept the one I made special for my sweetie this year. Of course, I can’t share a picture of that one just yet. 😉 . You can check out this post to see one that I gave away though.
Now for the projects! We focused on Simple Stamping at this workshop. This includes cards that use only paper, ink and stamps. They typically have limited layers. They’re called “simple”, but designing them can be anything but simple! We get so used to adding layers and embellishments, that it can be difficult to appreciate and design a simpler card. Project #1
The first one uses the First Frost stamp set that was carried over from the Holiday catalog. I love this set because the images themselves create depth, making layers unnecessary. I used Blackberry Bliss on this card, which happens to be my favorite color!

The next card is a masculine card using the Geared Up Garage stamp set from the Occasions catalog. I used Night of Navy ink for this one. Since we were trying to create Simple Stamping cards, I resisted temptation and stuck with a single color and white or vanilla. Well, except for the last card…
Project #3
The card pictured says, “happy birthday,” but there was also a Valentine greeting available and most people chose it. This card used the Bokeh Dots stamp set and Flirty Flamingo ink. Then, we used Basic Gray ink and stamps from the January 2019 Paper Pumpkin (or Happy Birthday Gorgeous for the card pictured). The “frame” around the image was hand drawn with a Basic Black marker. Most chose not to attempt that detail, and the cards still looked great.
